HEKAPA | Matty & the Buxtones | Shaddy Plays Blues

Experience a musical journey into the Night  at Totara St on June 14th with the band Hekapa and guests  featuring Matty and the buxtones and Shaddy plays Blues.

Hekapa is the beautiful blooming that occurs when preparation meets opportunity. With several projects coming to an end, the time was right for some of the Bay’s finest musicians to unite under the HEKAPA banner, bringing their impassioned brand of funk, soul, RnB and rock to stages for the first time in late 2023.

2024 looks to be a huge year for Hekapa, the experience and musicianship in their ranks has many looking to their first studio releases with anticipation, and there is little doubt that the name will be known inside and outside the BOP before long.

Matty and the Buxtones
Dive into a captivating world of sunshine funkadelic , ‘Matty & the Buxtones’. Born & raised from beachside haven Tauranga Moana, NZ, Matty and the Buxton & his show stopping band ,’The Buxtones’,have a tantalising, dynamic sound heavily influenced by bands combined from latin grooves, neo soul & hip hop. Led by charismatic frontman Matty Buxton, ‘The Buxtones’ have been on a roll of successful shows around the motu, Including a headline tour, as well as opening slots for heavy weights, Summer Thieves, Coterie, Lime Cordial and Black Comet. Leaving in their wake a raft of soulful fans eagerly awaiting their next chance to get down with these smooth groove inducers. Shaddy Plays Blues
New Zealand guitarist Joel Shadbolt brings together a bunch of his old buddies to play the blues. Paying tribute to the mid 70’s style of Chicago Blues right through to the heavy handed Texas blues style. You'll be sure to be taken on a ride.
