As the cost of living rises to new levels of financial restraint and struggle for the average New Zealander, you may ask yourself a series of David Byrne like questions about how you can still afford to do what you used to do. For now week to week your purse is olive jar lid tight. Your wallet aches for anything that isn’t a receipt. Your Eftpos card yearns to be used for something more than just bread and milk. Because if your wages haven’t been spent on unjustifiably high rent to line the pockets of your slumlord, then you are probably facing the unchecked avarice of bank imposed interest increases on your already emotionally painful mortgage, or perhaps inflation has increased your grocery, petrol, power, (LIVING) costs to a level you can no longer justify or control. Therefore, the disposable income you once freely used on entertainment; concerts, sports, movies has either been reduced drastically or eliminated completely.

Album number eight of the 10 | 10 | 10 series - ‘Leatherman & the Mojave Green’ is a homecoming of sorts for Troy, returning to the genre of music that ultimately enticed him into the industry - rock music. Inspired in his mid teens by so many artists that have come from or created in the Mojave Desert region (Kyuss, QOTSA, Eagles of Death Metal) it was an easy decision for Troy to record this album in the home of Desert Rock: Joshua Tree, in a studio synonymous with that sound 'Rancho de la Luna'.
