As the cost of living rises to new levels of financial restraint and struggle for the average New Zealander, you may ask yourself a series of David Byrne like questions about how you can still afford to do what you used to do.

For now week to week your purse is olive jar lid tight. Your wallet aches for anything that isn’t a receipt. Your Eftpos card yearns to be used for something more than just bread and milk. Because if your wages haven’t been spent on unjustifiably high rent to line the pockets of your slumlord, then you are probably facing the unchecked avarice of bank imposed interest increases on your already emotionally painful mortgage, or perhaps inflation has increased your grocery, petrol, power, (LIVING) costs to a level you can no longer justify or control. Therefore, the disposable income you once freely used on entertainment; concerts, sports, movies has either been reduced drastically or eliminated completely.

“And you may ask yourself, "Well, how did I get here?"

And so as we enter Loserpalooza season yet again, it seems glaringly apparent that there now are more losers than ever before. These losers aren’t just the self proclaimed punks and down on their luck musicians of past years, no, these losers are those of us who are just trying to get by. Normal people. Average Joe’s. The common man or woman. Me/you - you/me.  So welcome losers new and old, it’s all going to be OK, you are with your kind now.

Loserpalooza is a yearly Tauranga music festival now in its 7 year for those who like punk/metal/rock/alternative music . Entry is by Koha. However, while we make this festival donation only, we do ask that you give what you can as all proceeds go directly to Lifeline Aotearoa to aid and assist in their incredible efforts in suicide prevention and support. We have raised over 20k since the inaugural event in 2018 so hope to contribute more to this impressive number and important service.

Hosted by the world class venue that is Totara Street in Mount Maunganui and featuring 25 of the best Tauranga alternative/rock/metal/punk bands (all donating their time and performances for free) over 12 loser hours on 2 loser stages. This is an event that you probably previously missed, but now you are poor and therefore a loser like us, so your days of being so picky are over as this will be your only chance to leave the house this year.

“And you may say to yourself, "My God, what have I done?"
