Mudhoney │Tauranga
For the first time in over a decade, Mudhoney return to New Zealand for a run of intimate shows. Renowned for their ferocious live performances, the band continue to deliver the same high-voltage mix of sludgy riffs, pounding rhythms and Mark Arm's unmistakable snarl that made them one of the most influential rock bands of their era.
Formed in Seattle in 1988, Mudhoney helped define the sound that would become known as grunge, combining garage rock, punk and heavy distortion into something raw, loud and entirely their own. As one of the cornerstone acts of legendary independent label Sub Pop, the band became a crucial influence on the explosion of alternative rock that followed, with tracks like 'Touch Me I'm Sick' and 'Suck You Dry' remaining enduring underground classics.
More than 35 years on, Mudhoney remain as vital as ever, continuing to release acclaimed new music and proving night after night why they are regarded as one of the greatest live rock bands of their generation.
"When it comes to grunge, or even just Seattle, I think there was one band that made the definitive music of the time. It wasn't us or Nirvana, but Mudhoney. Nirvana delivered it to the world, but Mudhoney were the band of that time and sound." – Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam)
A rare chance to experience genuine grunge royalty up close.
