SOJØURN is hitting the road for their “Love in the Way” tour, celebrating the release of their debut album with five shows across the North Island this May and June. Known for their infectious blend of surf-rock, reggae, and psych grooves, the Mangawhai band promises high-energy performances and good vibes at Totara Street. As a teenager, I, like so many of us, struggled with my emotions, not knowing how to express or control them. Luckily I found solace in music: listening, collecting, playing, performing and watching. Sometimes I look back and think that without finding music, my teenage years could have played out very differently. Music, and especially bands, gave me an emotional grounding that I wouldn’t have otherwise found. When I couldn’t articulate myself mentally or verbally I could always find resonance through songs. This gave me a level of serenity and peace that prevented my thoughts spiraling in such a manner that would or could have lead me to darker places.
